Hair care

Dandruff:
Dandruff is the shedding of dead scalp cells (the anatomical space of the scalp, from the hair shaft to the neck) and should not be confused with dry scalp.

Human skin on its outermost surface is constantly regenerating cells due to keratin, which means that in constant contact with the surrounding space, the outer layer of the outer skin (epidermis) is destroyed and needs to be replaced. This regeneration is present all over the body, but when it increases in the scalp due to this process of cell death, it appears in the form of visible particles or so-called dandruff.

What is the cause of dandruff?
1- Washing hair less

If you don’t wash your hair regularly, oil and scalp cells accumulate and the scalp gets dandruff.

2- Mushroom-like yeasts (Malassezia)

“Masale Zia” lives on the scalp of many adults; But in some people, it causes burning and itching of the scalp. It also increases the growth of skin cells.

As a result, excess skin cells die, fall off and appear as white scales on hair or clothes. It is not yet clear why malassezia causes scalp irritation in some people.

3- Dry skin

Most of the flakes caused by dry skin are smaller and less greasy than other causes of dandruff. Also, the redness and inflammation of the skin is less in this case. If your dandruff is caused by dry skin, it’s likely that other parts of your body, like your feet and hands, are also dry.

4- Allergy to hair care products (contact dermatitis)

Sometimes, sensitivity to certain ingredients in hair care products or hair dyes can cause redness, flaking and itching of the scalp.

5- Oily and sensitive skin (seborrheic dermatitis)

This disorder is one of the most common causes of dandruff and its symptom is red and oily skin covered with white or yellow scales. Seborrheic dermatitis may affect the scalp and areas where there are many sebaceous glands; Such as eyebrows, around the nose, behind the ears, sternum bone, groin and sometimes armpits.

Types of dandruff
Dandruff occurs in two forms: dry or greasy.

dry dandruff
These types of dandruff can be seen and are in the form of layers of the scalp. They are white, flat, and easily removable. Most people who suffer from this type of dandruff have dry hair. In most cases, they cause annoying itching, and scratching it accelerates the process of their increase and reproduction. Also, their itching causes the scalp to become inflamed and the skin tries harder to renew itself, resulting in an increase in dandruff.

oily dandruff
The particles are smaller, rounder and slightly yellow in color. It is attached to the scalp in the form of fat particles and it is more difficult to remove them and cause wounds. They cause a lot of itchiness and are often a sign of hair loss, and according to this point, scalp itching due to oily dandruff should be strictly avoided.
